This is not an UPGRADE: The Old vs The New

Below is a comparison between the previous eVisa system that has been de-commissioned and the currently running eVisa system

Snapshot of the Cambodia e-Visa system before 28th June, 2008

In this snapshot, all translations is working perfectly.

In the current system screenshot at 28th June 2008, 1932hrs, the translations is totally messed up with gibberish text.

*****

Error messages in the previous system appears correctly and is in perfect alignment.

The error messages displayed in the new system is evidently an attempt to duplicate the design from the previous system.

*****

The screenshot above shows the previous system’s Flash animation that showcases customers feedbacks.

In the current eVisa system, a new flash animation with a reduced size is used.

*****

The Check and Change feature does not working anymore.

In the previous system, the Check and Change enables applicant to edit their eVisa certificates.

In the current system, it’s not working at all. Error messages shown are not relevant to the occuring errors. Also note the email address shown above in the screenshot above- cambodia.visa@gmail.com. We are not sure why the proper government-authorized email is not being used.

Is WeLoveCambodia.com Authentic and Legitimate?

If you have any doubts on the legitimacy of this blog, please check out the following comments from previous eVisa applicants.

Please note that these comments are left on this blog prior to the previous eVisa system being removed on the 28th June 2008.

Jasa:
2008-06-01 19:57:39 I found the e-Visa extremely efficient and promising. I have just returned from Siem Reap, and can confirm that all counters (despite only one labelled “e-Visa”) process them. I too wasn’t up for waiting in line. I definitely recommend e-Visa for fiends, family and interested people, as well as Cambodia for an amazing experience. Keep up the top work.

Robert Cheung:
2008-06-03 02:05:16 The application for e-Visa to Cambodia is a fast and efficient way. It only takes less than a day to obtain our visa. You don’t need travel agent to do it for you. It saves you a lot of time.

Michael:
2008-06-03 18:10:54 An amazingly efficient process. We submitted our applications 10.30 pm in the evening and the approval came back the next morning. Many thanks – why cannot other countries do the same?

Loren:
2008-06-04 03:21:50 The e-visa process is fabulous. It was very quick, easy, and efficient. My only complaint is that Cambodia charges both $25 for the visa and a $25 departure tax (for adults), which is a bit much. I really like the system, though.

Balaji Thirumalai:
2008-06-05 14:00:43 Excellent system with fast and efficient service! This is a system which other countries particularly developed ones need to adopt. Keep up the good work!

Cecille D.W. Whipple:
2008-06-05 22:57:43 Fast and efficient service! I had a wonderful time in Cambodia. I will visit again, and this time I will bring my family.

Is The New e-Visa System Secure and Reliable?

As of this writing, the new eVisa system is accessible via this link: http://www.mfaic.gov.kh/e-visa/vindex.aspx

One reader alerted the welovecambodia.com team on this link:

At the time of this writing, this is the screenshot of the page (click for larger view):

The latest information we got is that the new evisa site’s security is compromised. It doesn’t seems like the site was hacked.

I purchased 2 e visas and on arrival on July 1st had to purchase two more once in Cambodia due to the website being removed. They said I would get my money back when I contact you, so are you going to credit my credit card so I get my
money back. This has been quite frustrating so hope that getting my
money back will not be as frustrating as I would like to use this service
    again sometime. Thanks

On August 8, I couldn’t enter your country by using e-visa.
So I paid 20$ there again.

He said, “Many other people access this site, and do so.”
    Please check and return 25$.

  • Joe Says:

I bought an e-visa on Sunday September 7th, 2008 and used it at the Had Lek/Koh Kong border crossing on the Thursday September 11th, 2008 with out issues.

I was made to pay “tea money” to get my departure stamp from Cambodian customs as I entered and left on the same day. This is not a real fee, this is a bribe, but it is common. They asked for 300 THB and we settled on 160 THB after some haggling. Probably could have gotten em down to 100 THB, but I wanted to leave :D

So i repeat, no issues using e-visa at Had Lek/Koh Kong border crossing. I was issued my e-visa in 1 day. I used the .aspx site.

  • Victor Ooi Says:

    thank you Melvin.
I found this piece of information where Malaysia passport holder to Cambodia doesn’t need VISA

    Dear sir or madame,

I have tried to apply to the e-visa, however your system does not accept my picture despite it is in the format requested. In order to know what is the problem with the picture, I have sent an e-mail to the address photo@mfaic.gov.kh with the picture attached, but I have recieved no response.

What is the best way to proceed?

    Kind regards,

    Fabian

  • Melissa Says:

I heard that the original team who developed e-Visa had been cheated of their work by a Cambodian MFAIC officer and his cronies. Which explains why there have been poor customer service since the good old days.
These guys just want to make quick money and are not interested to give good clean service.
I think the gvernment should act to rectify this injustice and prosecute all the officer involved and their cronies. Otheriwse why else would any foreigners want to invest in this great country if this is allowed to continue?

  • Melissa Says:

    Fabian,

Just apply for on-arrival visa. It is easier and cheaper.

  • NOGUCHI SHINJI Says:

We sent this comment two times (Augsust / September)
on your site, but no answer came.
To my surprise, I found my coment was cut today!
    What are you doing?
I hope you give me the answer soon.

We applied e-Visa from your website,
but when we arrived at Siem Reap on August 2nd,
we were told that they could find our information in system ,
    but they were “unavaillable”.
And we had to apply for visa again! (20$ x 3 =60$)
    Please return the fee for e-Visa (25$ x 3= 75$) to us.

  • Mr. Ted Veenboer Says:

In September 2008 I aplied for an E-Visa, as I did in 2007, for one entry
at the airport of Phnom Penh for October 2008. Within three working days I recieved by mail the confirmation of the E-Visa, without any problem.
I just had to print it out and fix it in my passport and that’s all.

Excellent system, no waiting at the airport, just go straight on through the immigration office, and you will be the first to get a taxi to Phom Penh !!

I should wish the many other countries in S.E.Asie would have the same internet service !! This is an example how one could simplify imigration-formalities.

    Hello-

I am trying to apply for two e-visas however your system is not accepting my pictures despite the fact that they are in the required format. In an effort to rectify the problem with the pictures, I sent an e-mail to the address photo@mfaic.gov.kh with the pictures attached but have not yet received a response.

What is the best way to proceed? Can someone confirm that (if the e-visa system does not work) I can apply at the airport in Phom Penh and all I need is cash and photos AND it will only take 10 minutes?

Thanking you in advance for any and all comments,

  • Admin Says:

Wose, please apply on-arrival instead. The e-Visa website was ordered to stop by Malaysia Court now.

For some reason i have been receiving emails from people who have been applying for their evisa through your service. Can you please correct this problem. Thnak you very much!

  • Yana Says:

I am a travel agent staff. Iapplied the Cambodia E-VISA for my clients on line. First time, I filled up the application for 5 people and wait for payment. But the Web didn’t work. So, I proceed open another new Web to apply an other 5-people. (I have 20 VISAs need to apply) After i finished and checked the info, It showed correct, so I payed. But when I check the aprroved VISA’s details, I find that the approved visa’s details are confused with that i filled up on the first time. That is say. the approved VISA’s details are all wrong(include the photo, name, passport No.etc). and i payed. Can i change the details on line or refune to me. I reapply the Visa.My VISA reference NO.: 109010106692.
Please help me and tell me what can i do?

  • Admin Says:

Hi Yana, indeed. We have received many reports from travelers about the problem happened to existing e-Visa system. Please note that, an injunction was granted by Court of Malaysia to stop the current e-Visa system. It is very obvious that that system is currently an infringed copy of the original working-perfectly website. I would advise you to stop applying e-Visa. You can file a charge back through your Credit Card service provider (usually, this is fastest and you can get your money back without any problem, you have a valid proof). Try Visa on arrival. Your group can easily get their Visa on arrival at all entry ports in Cambodia. It is USd20 per person. Make sure they have two passport size picture each person. 6 month passport validity apply too.

  • supaman Says:

I Understand that the group of corrupted indivuduals i.e. Mr HONG, TY Thong and Adrian Phang conspired to steal the system from the developer.
This is a serious crime and they should be charged in court and sent to jail.

  • supaman Says:

I also understand that the US25 from the e-Visa goes directly to their pockets… the government is not aware of this arrangement… money paid for e-Visa goes to their personal Paypal account.
    They are under audit.
    SO beware of this system.
    Use visa on arrival instead.

  • Ta Says:

Few years ago I went to Vietnam and cross the boarder to Cambodia on a bus. I was demand to pay $25USD for a entry visa. I thought that was really a ripe off by the dishonest boader Authority Official. Then I had to pay $1 extra for qaurintine. If you don’t call this corruption, what will you call.? First of all I have never heard of qaurintine in Cambodia. How can it be qaurintine when the country itself so dirty? I refuse to go back to Cambodia again until the government is getting their act together to stop this corruption.

Not only that, I was demand for money under the counter from customer officier at the boarder cross as well as Phnom Penh airport.

  • TaTa Says:

The corruption is everywhere. For on arrival you can threaten by asking for receipt and take pictures.

E-Visa is also a corrupted project going to certain groups of people. Not only did they not develop the system themselves, they stole the system from some other hardworking people and call it their own and make illegal money.

The criminals are TY Thong and Adrian Phang both malaysians.

IN Cambodia it is Hong Pangharith, son in law to Deputy PM Sok An, who masterminded this crime. And he called himself an honest businessmam while working in Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a governemnt employee.

All your support to pay for e-Visa will go to the pockets of this criminals. Use on-arrival Visa instead. Its cheaper.

The Veitnamess who have come, gone and stayed do not need one. What has gone wrong with the Cambodian goverment???A lot more than what we have seen.

If you travel to Cambodia via Thailand.First fly to BangKok then travel by bus to the Thai and Cambodia boder(near Arunyaprathet and PoiPet). You can get a visa before crossing to Cambodia there is a stop. You can do it there but I recomment that you go to the Cambodian Consulate office it about half mile from this stop.

  • blossm Says:

I need a visa to Cambodia.Foreign tours will pay $20.00 for visit Angkorwatt. There have been a handfull of bussinessmen, S.Korean who contracted with the Cambodian big head behind the Khmer people for the money. It is not only corruption but discrimination against foreign tours too. Most leaders, administrators, police officers put their uniforms on to minipulate, ask for money from people when they want to because they have power but not enough education. They have bought themself a job. If the Cambodian goverment will make it hard getting a visa they will lost a lot of tours from everywhere in the world. They has a head but no brain. It is a Shame.
