This is not an UPGRADE: The Old vs The New
Below is a comparison between the previous eVisa system that has been de-commissioned and the currently running eVisa system
Snapshot of the Cambodia e-Visa system before 28th June, 2008

In this snapshot, all translations is working perfectly.

In the current system screenshot at 28th June 2008, 1932hrs, the translations is totally messed up with gibberish text.

Error messages in the previous system appears correctly and is in perfect alignment.

The error messages displayed in the new system is evidently an attempt to duplicate the design from the previous system.

The screenshot above shows the previous system’s Flash animation that showcases customers feedbacks.

In the current eVisa system, a new flash animation with a reduced size is used.

The Check and Change feature does not working anymore.
In the previous system, the Check and Change enables applicant to edit their eVisa certificates.
In the current system, it’s not working at all. Error messages shown are not relevant to the occuring errors. Also note the email address shown above in the screenshot above- cambodia.visa@gmail.com. We are not sure why the proper government-authorized email is not being used.
Is WeLoveCambodia.com Authentic and Legitimate?
If you have any doubts on the legitimacy of this blog, please check out the following comments from previous eVisa applicants.
Please note that these comments are left on this blog prior to the previous eVisa system being removed on the 28th June 2008.
Jasa:
2008-06-01 19:57:39 I found the e-Visa extremely efficient and promising. I have just returned from Siem Reap, and can confirm that all counters (despite only one labelled “e-Visaâ€) process them. I too wasn’t up for waiting in line. I definitely recommend e-Visa for fiends, family and interested people, as well as Cambodia for an amazing experience. Keep up the top work.Robert Cheung:
2008-06-03 02:05:16 The application for e-Visa to Cambodia is a fast and efficient way. It only takes less than a day to obtain our visa. You don’t need travel agent to do it for you. It saves you a lot of time.Michael:
2008-06-03 18:10:54 An amazingly efficient process. We submitted our applications 10.30 pm in the evening and the approval came back the next morning. Many thanks – why cannot other countries do the same?Loren:
2008-06-04 03:21:50 The e-visa process is fabulous. It was very quick, easy, and efficient. My only complaint is that Cambodia charges both $25 for the visa and a $25 departure tax (for adults), which is a bit much. I really like the system, though.Balaji Thirumalai:
2008-06-05 14:00:43 Excellent system with fast and efficient service! This is a system which other countries particularly developed ones need to adopt. Keep up the good work!Cecille D.W. Whipple:
2008-06-05 22:57:43 Fast and efficient service! I had a wonderful time in Cambodia. I will visit again, and this time I will bring my family.
Is The New e-Visa System Secure and Reliable?
As of this writing, the new eVisa system is accessible via this link: http://www.mfaic.gov.kh/e-visa/vindex.aspx
One reader alerted the welovecambodia.com team on this link:

The latest information we got is that the new evisa site’s security is compromised. It doesn’t seems like the site was hacked.

Dear Robert Langley,
Your observations is indeed right on the spot.
We will update this blog soon with the new information we’ve just gathered from our sources. This will give a clearer picture to everyone here who are having problem with the evisa applications.
Please stay tune.
July 5th, 2008 at 5:48 pm
I just tried applying — the system appeared to work fine. However, when it came to paying, I got the message:
So it appears there have been enough complaints that PayPal has pulled the plug until things get sorted out. I suppose I just need to wait a day or two until PayPal thinks it’s safe — or will you or someone post an announcement?
May God bless your day,
Paul

PLS CAN YOU TELL ME WHY PEOPLE FROM NIGERIA CAN NOT APPLY AND BE GIVEN AN EVISA?
July 6th, 2008 at 1:20 am
Well I have my evisa printed out from the old web site so will see if it works or I have to get another
July 6th, 2008 at 5:54 am
I don’t recommand you to take a e-visa, because at the check point in Siem Reap (and may be at phnom penh) they say they can’t find you e-visa in their system, and then you must paye another visa in place, so 2 visas for one country, it’s stupid.
July 6th, 2008 at 6:45 am
I paid for four visas via evisa and received notice that they were approved. When I went to print them out, the site had been removed. I will be in Cambodia on Wednesday July 8 having paid for visas but not having them in hand. What can I do?

Hi, I’m trying to get evisa (firefox 3.0, Win XP, from Italy) since a week now: the page is online, I fill all the fields, try to attach my photo, press “next” button… but then nothing happens and the page simply restarts from the beginning. Very frustrating.
Did anyone experience the same problem? Do you have any suggestion?
Thank you!

Dear Sir/ Madam,
I have applied for e-Visa and got this. I have also carried printed copies of e-Visa and was denied entry using this printed e-Visa since the immigration authority did not have my e-Visa in his records.
They forced me to apply for Visa on Arrival at Siam Reap airport. So I paid US$ 25 for this Visa on Arrival again. So, I was double charged for my Visa/ entry into Cambodia via Siam Reap Airport.
My e-Visa number: 1008060003884; Issued date: 20 Jun 2008
My Visa on Arrival number: TI 01647768 issue date: July 1st, 2008
Is there anyway I can get refund to my e-Visa that did not work for me?
Thank you & regards,
Venkatanath Kandalla

I had received my Evisa but could not print it out. I emailed cambodia.visa@gmail.com who asked for all my information again and I have now received my Evisa as an attachment as opposed to a link.
I would say email cambodia.visa@gmail.com as they are really helpful and efficient
July 7th, 2008 at 6:57 am
Aine
We have received reports from travelers that they are currently issuing the certificate by asking you to provide your information again. Apparently, it seems that they don’t hold any previous records you have submitted. We suspect a security leakage here.
July 7th, 2008 at 8:14 am
I submitted for the e visa and it got approved on 25 Jun ( reference number 108060003829). I tried printing the certificate 30 Jun but could not as the link was not working. As I had to travel urgently on a business trip I decided to take the visa on arrival. I had to pay twice for the Visa, once when i applied for the E visa (Pay pal reciept ID 3221-4274-9030-8410) and again USD 20 in cash on arrival at Siem Reap airport. I would like to get the refund for one of two as I had paid twice.

My daughter has had her E visa approved, but we cannot open it, She is travelling next week.
PLEASE HELP !!!
July 7th, 2008 at 8:30 am
I have been trying to get the evisa web site to accept details of both myself and my wife since the middle of last week. Today the information and photos were finally accepted. Iwas given reference numbers and a page with our photos and entry dates etc. which needed to be printed. The page then went to the PayPal payment page, as I am a registered PayPal user I thought thi would be an easy transaction. The problem now is that PayPal is not prossessing any payments for eVisa. It looks likePayPal must have suspended their dealings with the Cambodian Government due to the known problems over the past little while. Has anyone got any suggestions, I hope the people at PyPal read this as they are now compounding the situation.
I could not find any other way to pay on line, and I will not give out my card details to anyone. The edit/ change details page does not respond as the eVisa is in the pending stage, I printed off the eVisa details with our photos and the reference numbers and that is as far as I can go.
Guys at Admin have you any ideas, I sent an email to the contact address givenon the site but have had no reply as yet.
July 7th, 2008 at 9:18 am
i applied E-visa….in 29 of June……and Edit it again in 5 July…
this morning…i reseived it…….
no problem with me
July 7th, 2008 at 1:27 pm
I took a group of 11 in with the e-visa. We arrived at Phnom Penh airport last night (July 6th, 2008). 9 in our group had already printed out their e-visa’s prior to the site being taken down. All of the them went through no problem.
Two people in our group did not have their e-visa printed out yet. I told them to bring print outs of their confirmation emails and their receipt emails from paypal. If you’ve already applied and been approved, your e-visa number is listed in the email. With some polite smiles and a little patience, those two were allowed into Cambodia without any further fees.
My advice; Bring all of the paperwork you do have, bypass the “visa on arrival” booth, go straight to passport control, confidently tell them that they can accept what you have and fix “their” problem, and then be patient and polite.
Best of luck,
Brett

I paid for the visa onliine, but I cannot download the visa from the website.. What should I do?
July 7th, 2008 at 3:53 pm
Good advice Brett!
Travelers who are having problems printing out their evisa should consider Brett’s advice: Print out whatever documents & emails that contains reference number and proof of payments when you arrived.
July 7th, 2008 at 8:36 pm
I got my e-visa for cambodia but after returning from another vacation to print it out, i found that i was unable to open the document. And i don’t know where to find the proof that i have paid for it either. What should i do?

I have tried to get on the check-change web page to check my application status this morning 8/7/2008 9-10AM Australian time and neither Internet Explorer or Firefox can connect. I looks like the site is either removed or under repair or update. Anyone able to connect? http://www.mfaic.gov.kh/e-visa/vindex.aspx.
Has anyone been able to pay with PayPal since yesterday morning 7/7/2008 1PM Australian time
July 7th, 2008 at 11:39 pm
I have just tried the new home page and it is down as well.
I thought this was going to be easy!!!!!
Has anyone got any ideas I have emailed the contact email addresses and had no reply to my last two emails and have sent a third just now.
Bretts advice is great if you can Pay for the evisa through PayPal and get a printed receipt but that is not the case at this time as PayPal has suspended dealing with Cambodia eVisa.
It is a pitty that no one seems to be able to get this problem fixed, I am a patient person and have plenty of time to do this sort of thing but for most people I would say this system is out of control and way to time consuming. I am amased that not even the Cambodian Government have bothered to post a message saying the system would be down today or to at least answer emails.
Come on guys at Cambodia Government lets get it right, there are plenty of us overseas traverlers wanting to spend it up and visit beautiful Cambodia. But most traverlers do not want to face the reported problems at the border crossing in Cambodia, which will upset the start of their visit. That is why we get on the internet to seek out other more time saving ways like eVisa to bypass the scams and corrupt officials. Your eVisa system was as I have read a fantastic inavative system up to a few days back. But travelers these days are mostly all home internet users with access to the latest information out there such as this blog.
My problem is that my wife and I are hesetent to cross into Cambodia from Thailand if we have to put up with the scams and rip offs that are reported to exist on your side of the border. We are not new to travel and the problems that can arrise. But both of us and I guese all traverlers are wanting a pleasant trip to any country with no hassels especially at Government run and manned offices by those few corrupt officials and hangeron’s who spoil it for everyone. We are getting past bothering with that type of problems as we are getting older and hate it more when officials are involved. Why not clean up the customs offices at your border crossings, then increase the cost of a visa to $25US at the crossings, that seems to be the going rate everyone has to pay not the $20US advertised. But make it a pleasant excersise with no corruption and get rid of the scamers. I’m sure the extra fee increase would be gladly paid if it was the official fee and no extras were added by your staff, or their friends running the scams outside, and the increase would help to pay for the clean up as well.
It is a simple fix to a problem that a few legitmate trustworthy employees could handle if backed by trustworthy officials and guards t here must be plenty of people wanting a good position who are honest and friendly.
If their was more than one Air carrier from Thailand able to opperate this situation would be partially curtailed for those who would fly in, if the price of air travel was more reasonable, but lack of competition has given that one and only carrier a monopolly, once again without choice there is no chance of reduced fares. That puts most of us in the travelling by Bus or taxi club and having to face not only the long trip but at the end of a long day an expecting an unpleasant experience on entering the place we had travelled so far AS A FRIEND TO VISIT !!!
I feel strongly enough about the border problems to change our plans and bypass visiting Cambodia as planned for later this month, if the problems persist over the next week or so we will be staying in thailand it is a real pitty as I have wanted to visit Cambodia and see Ankor for many years Thailand will be so close but now so far far away.

This is unfortunate that there was no warning. I got in and out just in time and had excellent communication with Chandra (an Evisa customer service agent) but it just goes to show how unpredictable Asia can be…

Dear e-visa consulat,
I’m flying today to Cambodia. It was not possible to get an e-visa during the last two weeks; a visa that I paid before. I’m very angry about this fact and decided to fly to Vietnam immediately to spend my holyday and my money there. It’s sad but it makes tourist heavy to visit your interesting country. When you don’t fix your political and economic problems I could not recommend anyone to visit cambodia. Please transfer the 25$ I paid for an e-visa I didn’t get via palpay.
Best regards Frank Hoeschen

I have just checked again he new check and change page, it is up again but my application is still pending approval. I will check again tomorrow, anyone able to pay for your evisa over the past few days?
July 8th, 2008 at 8:16 am
I was one of a few whose pre-paid evisa for Cambodia was rejected, when I arrived in the country at Siem Reap International Airport, on 1st July 2008. I was forced to resubmit my details and pay AGAIN for a new visa. The Cambodian authorities said evisa was responsible for a refund of the pre-payment. Could you please tell me how I can mkae my claim?
July 8th, 2008 at 8:27 am
Hello,
Finally got through the second screen of the application process but I found in the terms and conditions that you must have a round trip ticket.
We are on Japanese & Canadian passports.
We will arrive in Phnom Penh International on July 29th on one-way tickets from Bangkok.
We have return tickets to Japan from Bangkok departing on Sept 8th.
We plan to stay in Cambodia about 1 week and travel overland into Vietnam.
Is this OK? If have evisas, will we have a problem entering Cambodia on a one-way ticket?
Thanks for you help,
Jeffrey

Hi,
I am backpacking into Cambodia from Thailand. I cannot get an e-visa and I am currently in Vietnam. Can I apply and pay for one at the border? Advice is appreciated.
Thanks,

This site is driving my nuts!! I’ve entered the information about 20 times only to have the site stall etc at various points.
I finally got to the end of the second screen after entering the passport details and contact info.
When I press submit it flips me back to the notice screen that has the evisa contacts and the Proceed button at the bottom. If I click that the application starts from the beginning!!
Please help!
July 8th, 2008 at 2:10 pm
I purchased an e-visa for travelling to Siem Reap, I thought it was a great idea, easy, quick…compared to the Vietnam Visa, having to send my passport away for a week, and the troubles of postage or getting lost worried me…
I payed though their system and everything worked fine UNTIL I GOT TO SIEM REAP!!! They didn’t find my application number…so I had to queue to get a new Visa having to pay double for it!!! I think it’s just better to purchase it directly from the airport!!!!
July 8th, 2008 at 2:11 pm
If travelling to Siem Reap BUY YOUR VISA AT THE AIRPORT!!!
July 8th, 2008 at 2:17 pm
Those who can’t get their e-visa that they applied for on the old system should go here:
http://evisa.mfaic.gov.kh/e-visa/reclaim.aspx
When will this site start putting useful links at the top of the page rather than just “Our System is better than their system” messages? I think you’re now confusing people more than helping them!
July 8th, 2008 at 3:24 pm
Dear Alex Stansfield,
Pls read comment from Laura. The new system doesn’t work and the payment gateway has been effectively blocked by Paypal.
A quote from Tales of Asia http://talesofasia.com/blog/?p=83
July 8th, 2008 at 3:36 pm
As I said in my comment “Those who can’t get their e-visa that they applied for on the old system should go here”. that is people who have already bought an evisa but can’t print it off.
There are comments from people here who have been helped by writing to the email addresses given on the official site. Addresses you still wont put on the webpage.
As for paypal blocking the site that’s probably due to people complaining because they think they’ve lost their money when they don’t know that if they email the right people they will have their visas sent to them.
Myself and other people have already reported success stories from emailing the address given on the evisa website. Yet you still don’t publish this address!
When you first published this website I thought you were trying to help, now it just seems like a bunch of sour grapes.
July 8th, 2008 at 4:28 pm
Dear Alex Stansfield,
We understand that you feel very strongly about how the email addresses has assisted you and the other travelers. And we respect your view on this, otherwise we could have deleted the email addresses you mentioned from this blog.
As I’ve mentioned earlier, we have obtained data and evidences that the transition from the old visa system to the new system is not just a migration or upgrade issue. We are compiling the information as of now and hope to publish it shortly here.
I apologize that we cannot reveal too much yet, and your patience on this matter is greatly appreciated.
Yes, we are sorry to sound like a bunch of sour grapes. Looking at the above post, yes, I have to admit that we are indeed making lots of comparisons between the old and new system, and we are obviously putting down the new system with our “one-sided comments”.
We hope that when we publish the information later, you will understand our intention. Truly sorry for any inconvenience this might have caused, but we need a little more time to sort things out here.

July 9th, 2008 at 1:18 pm
Another person who had to pay at Siem Reap Airport as they could not find the number. We were advised that we can claim the money back once we return to the UK, call me skeptical but I can’t see this being possible in three months’ time. There were a number of other pasengers who also faced the same problem. I would recommend paying at the airport.
July 9th, 2008 at 4:46 pm
Do I need a visa??
I was born in cambodia, I am a U.S citizen. I applied E-visa online and recieved a rejection. But when I arrived at the Phnom Pench airport went through Visa scanner. They requested that I need a multiple visa in order to entry into Cambodia that I need to pay $10 and tip $5.00 to the Visa stamper, thanks god he did not ask for $5.00. I understood that if I was born in that I did not need Visa. If so why can I apply online. (Airport corruption & conspiracy) It’s rude my trip because I rather give my $10.00 to the poor at my valleg. ***** I have no problem E-visa online and my visa arrived on time*****
Siem Reap airport has a big Sign that (born in Combodia no need to pay to get in which make sense with E-visa online
