This is not an UPGRADE: The Old vs The New
Below is a comparison between the previous eVisa system that has been de-commissioned and the currently running eVisa system
Snapshot of the Cambodia e-Visa system before 28th June, 2008

In this snapshot, all translations is working perfectly.

In the current system screenshot at 28th June 2008, 1932hrs, the translations is totally messed up with gibberish text.

Error messages in the previous system appears correctly and is in perfect alignment.

The error messages displayed in the new system is evidently an attempt to duplicate the design from the previous system.

The screenshot above shows the previous system’s Flash animation that showcases customers feedbacks.

In the current eVisa system, a new flash animation with a reduced size is used.

The Check and Change feature does not working anymore.
In the previous system, the Check and Change enables applicant to edit their eVisa certificates.
In the current system, it’s not working at all. Error messages shown are not relevant to the occuring errors. Also note the email address shown above in the screenshot above- cambodia.visa@gmail.com. We are not sure why the proper government-authorized email is not being used.
Is WeLoveCambodia.com Authentic and Legitimate?
If you have any doubts on the legitimacy of this blog, please check out the following comments from previous eVisa applicants.
Please note that these comments are left on this blog prior to the previous eVisa system being removed on the 28th June 2008.
Jasa:
2008-06-01 19:57:39 I found the e-Visa extremely efficient and promising. I have just returned from Siem Reap, and can confirm that all counters (despite only one labelled “e-Visaâ€) process them. I too wasn’t up for waiting in line. I definitely recommend e-Visa for fiends, family and interested people, as well as Cambodia for an amazing experience. Keep up the top work.Robert Cheung:
2008-06-03 02:05:16 The application for e-Visa to Cambodia is a fast and efficient way. It only takes less than a day to obtain our visa. You don’t need travel agent to do it for you. It saves you a lot of time.Michael:
2008-06-03 18:10:54 An amazingly efficient process. We submitted our applications 10.30 pm in the evening and the approval came back the next morning. Many thanks – why cannot other countries do the same?Loren:
2008-06-04 03:21:50 The e-visa process is fabulous. It was very quick, easy, and efficient. My only complaint is that Cambodia charges both $25 for the visa and a $25 departure tax (for adults), which is a bit much. I really like the system, though.Balaji Thirumalai:
2008-06-05 14:00:43 Excellent system with fast and efficient service! This is a system which other countries particularly developed ones need to adopt. Keep up the good work!Cecille D.W. Whipple:
2008-06-05 22:57:43 Fast and efficient service! I had a wonderful time in Cambodia. I will visit again, and this time I will bring my family.

Attention to all travelers to Cambodia
The current payment gateway used by the New System in http://evisa.mfaic.gov.kh, was blocked by Paypal for the second times this week for further investigation. All travelers are advised not to apply online at this moment. You can proceed for Visa On-arrival in all major entry ports including both Siem Reap and Phnom Penh International Airport.

The problems persist!!!! PayPal now works fine, I applied for two eVisas, over a week ago one for myself and one for my Wife. After checking again I was finally was able to pay through PayPal yesterday morning. Later in the day I received three emails stating that the eVisa’s had been approved and links to download the visa’s. My Wife’s was the firt email I opened and going to the link I was able to download and pint the eVisa without any problems.
I then opened the next email expecting it to be my eVisa, when I downloaded it I was horrified to find out it was for another person, with all his details, passport number etc. the same happened for the third email. What is going on? I then went to the change and check site to fid out the same two people are now my Wife and I. Who has our details? looks like we all look the same and our names, email adresses and anything else we provide can be sent all over th world. I am PISSED OFF !!!

Dear Barry Rowe
The New System (ironically, they called it an upgrade which you can find the notice on http://evisa.mfaic.gov.kh) was performing terribly, both the process and the security issues. You might want to lodge the report to the following person via email:

Hi Admin,
well I was surprised by the quick response from the eVisa help desk. They were on to it immediately, I was emailed the eVisas for both my wife and myself in a very shot time which I was able to print immediately. They said sorry for the problems but did not mention the mix up with the other visas sent to me in error.
I think that things are getting back on track but who knows what will happen when entering Cambodia, fingrs crossed they have fixed the problems and all he correct information will be on their system when we arrive next week.
July 15th, 2008 at 11:24 am
Hi,
Although I was approved for my e-visa and sent a confirmation email on June 18th, when I went to print it out a week later before my trip, the website was down. I tried to email your service, but again, due to the website problems, my email was sent back. As a result, when I got to Cambodia and did not have the printed out visa, I had to REAPPLY and pay another $20 for the new visa upon arrival. I’m looking to find a way to get a refund for the original e-visa (number 1008060003387) that I wasn’t able to use due to the problems with your website. I’d like a refund to my paypal account if possible. Please let me know how to proceed. You can email me at staids228@gmail.com. Thank you.
Stephanie

Website working ok on 11th July. Used the details off my old application and re-applied via the ‘Reclaim’ link. New evisa printed off with no problems. No further cost involved. Hopefully all wil be ok at siem reap.

Talk about sour grapes or what. Perhaps publish all the above comments with their IP addresses displayed, so we can see how many are from non-Malay IP addresses.
Face up to the fact that you guys created a good sysyem that was a nice little earner and the Khmer Govt (who shuld have been running it in the first place) took it off you. If there’s a contractual issue so be it — sort that out between yourselves.
BUT, by maintaining this online moanfest all you’re doing is confusing the consumer — if you were really concerned about the consumer there would be a direct link at the top of the page saying “new visa processing is taking place at …” instead of the cryptic message you have at the moment….
Jeez grow up people!
ADMIN’S REPLY: You don’t seem to get the point. Your lack of information is the main issue here. You are the one trying to confuse travelers with your irresponsible comment.
What we are doing here is simple and direct. We are pointing previous eVisa applicants to the contacts which we think is going to help them resolve their issues.
So far, we’ve enough facts to tell that the existing system’s security is compromised and there are payment issues with PayPal. Of course, you can take the risk and go ahead applying with the new system, but we strongly discourage that. Nothing cryptic about the message.
Maybe you have other agendas that I am not aware of. I suggest you do your homework and maybe we can see more constructive assistance from yourself.
July 16th, 2008 at 6:37 am
Oh and go invest in a more functional WordPress template will you?
July 16th, 2008 at 6:38 am
Hi Admin,
My E-Visa number is 1008050002936
Registered Name: Jim Wu (Wu Cheng-Ta)
Issue Date: 20 May 2008
Expiry Date: 20 Aug 2008
When I passed customs with my E-Visa on 13th July, the customs officers said he couldn’t find my e-visa record either on his print-out sheet or computer. Therefore, I was required to appy for “Visa on Arrival”(registered name: Wu Cheng-Ta(“Jim” is my English given name) ) and paid USD 20.
Could you pls kindly check why my E-Visa wasn’t showed on your system? And pls kindly advise if I can refund my E-Visa fee back, i.e. USD 25.
July 16th, 2008 at 6:54 am
WordPress can be configured to display poster’s IP addresses — do that and I think you’ll see that a lot of the comments above are fictional.
Not that you’ll see that because you won’t do it.
“Sour grapes get over it” means you’re displaying the behaviour best known as “sour grapes” and you should get over it.
The cryptic messge I referred to is:
“We have some interesting developments coming up soon on what really happened to the old evisa system. We shall reveal the information soon!”
What on earth does that mean? If you have the information, reveal it, it you don’t, don’t — in the meantime, have a link to the official eVisa page and be done with it.
July 16th, 2008 at 6:57 am
Sorry and I forgot to address some of your other points:
1) What we are doing here is simple and direct.
Yes a blog post with 517 posts is very simple and direct
2) I’ve done my homework, that’s why I’m posting here today.
3) The most constructive advice I can give is that you put in a link to the official site and go home to cry into your beer.
July 16th, 2008 at 7:41 am
Sour Grapes:
If your intention is not trying to help all of us frustrated travelers here, then i suggest you to shut the hell up. Oh so you’ve done your homework? and why are you still posting up your useless comments here, adding to up to the “517 posts”??? and these 517 are “comments” NOT “posts”!
Try help us get back our refunds if you’re so smart.
July 16th, 2008 at 8:51 am
Yes Mia — I see you’ve a long posting history in this diatribe. How’s the weather today in PJ anyway?
July 16th, 2008 at 9:23 am
I and my wife arrived at Siem Reap airport on July 1 2008 with our e-visa. Upon arrival at immigration the officer there told us that the website is down, and we have to apply for visa on ground instead. We paid USD20 each for the visa on ground, and we asked what can be done with the e-visa we have already had, as we have already paid USD25 for each of them. The officer said we should approach the Cambodian embassy in our country for a refund. We are Canadians and Cambodia has no embassy in Ottawa. Could you tell me how to apply for a refund?
July 17th, 2008 at 2:46 am
Simon, I am like you! I purchased an EVisa and was also not on the imagration sheet, I had to purchase another 3 costing an extra $60. I do not know how to go about a refund maybe “ADMINSTRATION” may be able to give us a hint how to get our money back!
July 17th, 2008 at 7:05 am
We will ask it. Is e-visa that is already acquired, and has printed out in the following
inquiry number still effective?

check it Visas are associated with the request for permission to enter (or exit) a country, and are thus, for some countries, distinct from actual formal permission for an alien to enter and remain in the country. So it needed so check e-visa.
July 17th, 2008 at 4:56 pm
I am travelling to Cambodia at the end of the month. With the old system I printed my evisa. I reclaimed yesterday my visa on the new system and it worked. I had to re-fill all my data but I received this morning my new visa without extra cost.
So for future travelers it is possible to recover a visa paid with the ols system without extra fees.

Hello,
I paid for and was approved for an E-Visa on May 7. However, I did not download it because my travel plans were moved back to August. Now I am unable to access and download my E-Visa. Please, what should I do. Is there another link I can go to, to download my E-Visa. Or, do I have to re-apply for it and pay for it via mail/the Cambodian Embassy in the U.S.?
July 19th, 2008 at 2:12 am
Hello,
I have a problem: I am attempting to register for an e-Visa and although I put all my personal information in the first hase (along with the picture), once I click on “next”, the page keeps on returning to the first. Please let me know what measures I can do to prevent this! I am leaving on July 26th and would need my E-visa by then as I will be travelling by bus and train.
Please let me know what steps I must undertake to receive my E-visa.
Thank you,
Anna

A couple of weeks ago I bookmarked the Cambodian e-visa page for future use. When I came back to buy my visa I found the page had been removed. OF COURSE THIS IS A PROBLEM.

Hello,
I purchased and paid for two cambodian visas. I’m am leaving in 4 weeks and cannot retrieve my visas to print them out.
What do I do?
July 22nd, 2008 at 6:31 pm
Hi Tom,
I know it would probably be much easier to get at arrival, however, I will be traveling in from Thailand (via Poi Pet) and I heard so many crooked customs agent and surcharges that it makes me very apprehensive about either system…If you would have maybe any extra advice about that it would be really appreciated!!
I would love to come prepared but it seems neither system works well…

Is there a way I can get a refund because my evisa is not working? Help!
July 24th, 2008 at 9:32 pm
Hi There
Can someone please advise me on the following.
I need to get a Cambodian Visa, obviously the e-visa system isn’t working, what are the other options? Do they expect to rectify the problem with e-visa soon?
Thanks
July 25th, 2008 at 5:34 am
I used the evisa and it was OK *** except *** for the Pay Pal crap!
I was *** forced *** to use Pay Pal and then I ad wierd charges on my credit card from some Pay Pal vendor! I have been fighting these illegal charges for the past three months!
July 26th, 2008 at 12:08 am
Bring all of the paperwork you do have, go straight to passport control, confidently tell them that they can accept what you have and fix “their†problem, and then be patient and polite.
July 28th, 2008 at 4:22 am
I never printed out the verification that my evisa was approved. Now when I tried to print out the email it is saying that the page cannot be found. Can I be sent further confirmation so that when I arrive in Cambodia in two weeks I am allowed in the country? Let me know as soon as possible what I need to do to rectify this problem. Thank you!
July 28th, 2008 at 4:40 am
I just applied for the e-Visa and it looks ok.
However, i got feedback from my friends who were there last week with e-Visa, they could not use e-Visa as the system was down. They had to buy on-arrival Visa and now is going to try to get back the refund from the online merchant, as told by the immigration officers.
I hope it wll be operational when i get there next month.
July 29th, 2008 at 1:58 am
I am going to Siem Reap in a few months and am very interested to hear about the new system – whether or not it works and whether it would be easier and more reliable to just go to the embassy to get a visa.
Please continue to update me with your comments.
July 29th, 2008 at 2:38 am
Tara,
they have on arrival visa at the checkpoint.
cheaper and no risk.
if the officer ask for extra, ask for a receipt and take picture, that should stop them from swindling you.
good luck!
